Sierra Receives International
Environmental Accreditation
(Sept 2009)
Sierra has recently been certified
with ISO 14001:2004 – an environmental accreditation
from the International Organisation for Standardisation
(ISO), a worldwide federation of national standards.
The accreditation recognises Sierra’s
effort in achieving sound environmental practice and
provides the company with a rounded management system,
complementing its OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety,
and the 9001:2000 Quality Management accreditations.
Sierra has become increasingly determined
to demonstrate first-rate environmental performance,
and has investigated the impact of its activities, products
and services on the environment, to ensure they are
consistent with environmental policies and objectives,
in the context of stringent legislation laid out by
the ISO. In order to achieve ISO 14001:2004, Sierra
had to demonstrate strict measures were in place to
ensure the company is consistently working to foster
environmental protection, and to guarantee sustainable
development. The system has enabled Sierra to develop
an environmental policy, establish objectives, and to
take action.
